Since I have three lenses for the Micro Four Thirds system (all of Panasonic), only one such system camera out of the question. The Olympus cameras were excluded from both financial and aesthetic reasons.
So a DMC-G6 Body bought (not Amazon!), Of course, works flawlessly with existing lenses. Actually I use for some time, however, only a single lens, the Panasonic H-H020E Pancake lens Lumix G F1.7 / 20 mm, because it is by far the best picture quality. Of course, the lack of zoom limits - or demands of photographers a greater "flexibility" to and from the subject away. So far, however, hardly disturbed me, rarely the focal length of 20mm for capturing certain lenses (especially building) is not enough.
That came with the G3 14-42mm kit lens is the same as in this range for the G6 and unfortunately provides no convincing results - especially the lack of sharpness, and the light intensity can be (naturally with zoom lenses) to be desired also left. I therefore recommend strongly that o, g. Fixed focal length lens as a replacement or supplement to really take advantage of the quality of the camera can. It is worth it!
I just the DMC-G3 own, I can draw a direct comparison between the two. Which reminds me on:
- The aluminum body of the G3 looks a lot valent than the cheap plastic of the post-successor, which I think is very unfortunate. It still feels very different.
- The G6 is due to the curvature better in your hand, you feel more secure. For practical reasons, I will not use a loop, so it's important for me that I can hold the camera securely in one hand.
- The new full-screen viewfinder is a significant improvement over the low resolution of the G3.
- What has changed, however, is hardly improved the image quality of pictures: same resolution as before, felt minimally higher sharpness - the quality of a camera is just yet primarily in the lens, not in the electronics behind.
- Better Software, the new iA + Advanced automatic that also influences the brightness, not always reliable in operation and possibly prone to overexposure. I no longer use.
- Significantly improves the resolution in VIDEO mode, which now provides first-class, camcorder-worthy results in Full HD appears.
- The display has been significantly improved, but the presentation of some calls with electronic spirit level of attention: not always it is oriented correctly, and shot out of the feeling photos can actually turn out "straight". Therefore care when using the spirit level!
- As with other Panasonic models, the G6 as well as already the G3 no internal image stabilizer. When using for example the mentioned Pancake lens is due to the high light intensity of 1.7 such superfluous.
- As with the G3 is also at the G6 battery life "manageable". Additional batteries are therefore highly recommended if you are out all day. The Panasonic brand battery was too expensive for me, so I bought two "Chilli Power" No Name replicas which also work well, the capacity of the original in practice (!) But do not quite reach.
Although the G6 is beefy than the G3 are both really easy and easy to handle compared to SLR, without having to worry about significant losses in the picture quality, a good lens, of course.
Either buy the set with kit lens, sell off the latter and buy more of the good Fixbrennweitenobjektive, or equal to acquire only the body and to a good lens: My advice therefore.
