I must admit that I have been waiting for a conversion for PC, because this game is one of the titles that I wanted to play. Therefore, the decision to buy was made relatively quickly because the reviews of the Xbox 360 version are relatively straightforward.
Accordingly high were my expectations of the story and the gameplay and in my eyes my expectations were met.
The game:
The game certainly is distinguished not by the best graphics, but that it has also not really advertised. I do not want to express that the graphics are bad with it. On the contrary, I felt except for a few small unsightly things (eg the water and the low-resolution ground textures) relatively nice. The reason is that you can not constantly staring into the game on the ground but is trying his way through the darkness, paying attention only to the light.
In the game is simply to tell the story: A story of light and darkness, in which the best weapon against evil (darkness) is the light. While there in Alan Wake also a small arsenal of weapons (revolver, shotgun, shotgun and hunting rifle), but they give the players no sense of security. One feels in Alan Wake at night permanently vulnerable, and one is also. This atmosphere is just what makes Alan Wake.
In the control, there is a very big point of criticism: The control of the vehicles is a disaster. Driving feels gimmicky and it is not a real pleasure. However, this is the smallest part of the game and therefore not really significant. The control foot and the shooter control was okay.
The background music in Alan Wake comes largely from Petri Alanko and hits total in my eyes the mark. The music matches the actual idyll of Bright Falls. The other titles (The Poet and the Muse, War and Children of the Elder God) who likewise have their appropriate place in the game. In my mind, the title of Petri Alanko radiate mostly a certain melancholy.
For the technical side:
I have the game can largely by playing without performance issues. There were a few problems in scenes with an enormous amount of light and animation. Otherwise the game ran on my computer:
AMD X4 955 BE (4 x 3.2 GHz)
AMD 6870 (1 GB)
6 GB DDR2-800 (CL4)
with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels smoothly.
The game uses Steam - that is, the game is tied after the purchase of this account and can not be activated again. For some people, Steam may be a problem, I'm interested in it, however, rather less.
Finally, one can say that it is a worthwhile game. Remedy here has really created a game for itself and the game gave a flawless story.
