Before tweeter a film capacitor is soldered. According to the manufacturer Bennic has the capacitor has a capacitance of 3.3uF with a tolerance of + -5% and 250 VDC. It is a filter with 6dB / octave which uses about 6 kHz. With an impedance of 8 ohms, the tweeter has a DC resistance of about 6 ohms.
The two low-midrange driver were connected in parallel without additional components and therefore has a DC resistance of only about 3 ohms.
The absence of a complex crossover is incidentally no shortage, because by strong filters often only worsens the sound and the efficiency. However, the speakers change significantly the source material, so that individual instruments were no longer objectively perceptible part.
But speakers can only be judged subjectively, then it is a sound transducer which should be adjusted for each ear. Due to lack of high frequency components and the emphasis of the bass range, especially the youthful ear is addressed. For the high-quality reproduction of classical music, the box is not suitable, in my view.
So I was curious and have looked at the frequency band of the box, and the individual chassis.
With suitable software (for Mac Fuzzmeasure) and a good Rode microphone, this was very easy. The result of multiple measurements was sobering and so I could see my first impression confirmed. Linear frequency band is not really ...
In summary it can be said that was not achieved here, relatively inferior Loudspeakerchassis a halfway decent "sound". Of course one could compensate for the errors of the individual chassis by suitable filters. The effort is, however, out of proportion to the expected result.
However, compared to other finished speakers in this price range falls out in favor of Mohr boxes. Who does not want to spend much money, which is certainly in good hands here. They go very well with digital amplifiers (T-Class).
If you've never really heard good speakers, will be very satisfied.
Who is, however, sent something by hand, should prefer to buy higher-quality loudspeaker chassis and this simply block in a wooden box from the hardware store. The price is not much higher, but the result is better than that of many high-quality brand speakers. Perhaps a Visaton G20SC separated by 12dB / 3800Hz to W200S in a closed 15-30 liter box?
Incidentally, the "import" is nothing more than the habit of a generated by the new speaker sound. No component is the "import" really better!
