I use the tablet primarily in Aperture to edit individual image areas with the help of brushes (masks) or to indemnify and motives for the pen input relative to the machining with a mouse or trackball is far superior. The print resolution of only 1024 pixels is sufficient for my purposes. The Brush hardness I ask anyway rather in a program and not through the print pressure of the pen. It may be that one to draw a higher resolution to pressure levels benötig, I've had enough as it is here.
My concerns about the size have also scattered! You will do just fine, even with a monitor with a resolution of 2048x1152 pixels. With a larger tablet I had even some more space problems on the desk, and there is the larger version in combination with the touch function that would probably bother me in the image editing anyway more and I would therefore probably off.
From me a strong buy recommendation for image editing and a little desk space.
