Since the iPad 3, I use the "Berlin" model of KAVAJ, mostly around the tablet slightly angled to use lying on the table and go safely transport. The state function, allowing it to be used as a digital photo frame or to watch a movie, come with me virtually never used. The fact that it is mostly bent on the table the leather has also heavily used to this position, so you just "turn" a while must before then a halfway secure grip in the state function gets ... but that bothers me because of not above reasons. Even the iPad mini (1) the "Berlin" is used, as it was for these products at the time, no case of Apple itself.
With the leather quality, the processing to the price / performance ratio, I am very happy, why am I ultimately am but then switched?
My iPad usage is almost 80% instead of only in landscape mode, so 2 things that were decisive for the Umsteig:
1. The iPad 3 had a broad frame around the display, which is, however, now accounts for the Air. Thus, the wiping gestures / above very limited down when using the KAVAJ bag possible and same a gamble, because the leather frame on the long sides covered completely. When Apple Case nothing is hidden from the frame so easily all wiping gestures are possible.
2. The fact that I now somewhat flatter position from Apple Case is often a Stif insets pleasant, even if it's not quite as stable as the competitor of KAVAJ.
3. The other structure, it is the Apple Case no matter how it is used, whether flat or bent in presentation mode - it gets used to any position, so that a "bend" for buyers Stellungswechsel.
What's yoy. Apple Case solved better at KAVAJ?
1. The cover fits like a glove and is held well by the magnet. The fact that the cover is not made of 1/3 and 2/3, and the magnet is located right outside flutter nothing.
2. The tab on the back pocket retains its structure when it briefly lifted off the table. The Apple case even by the magnetism, but once it moved slightly hectic, it works apart.
3. The weight! Although the Apple case is thinner and works (because the leather looks smooth and not so fluffed) weighs it more!
4. There is by design no edge on the left side, everything is "around" in itself.
Neutral I rate the look, because that's a matter of taste. Short it can be said that the KAVAJ is a flatterer. The leather feels soft and good. By the time it gets a certain used look. Eben a leather jacket for the iPad, although it closed - apart from the lateral Silent switch - would suspect no tablet in it!
The Apple Case, however, is very "clean". Also high quality, but very hard, and not necessarily in the otherwise typical leather look. Some would probably not feel it is leather, so I felt, for example, almost at first contact with the iPhone 5 Case of Apple, which I also used ... but Annoying is closed the seam on the left side. If you often carry around the iPad in hand, you should be prepared to keep the device on the other side!
CONCLUSION: Both products, whether Apple or KAVAJ are the top sellers in the pocket area. So far I have not seen anything similar and can both recommend with a clear conscience. The limitations, advantages and disadvantages stand up, otherwise just let you decide the look! :) As the price / performance ratio typical Apple is a little excessive, I have deducted a star, I am nevertheless satisfied almost completely.
My setup is now but an Apple Smart Cover combined with the Belkin Snap Shield since there the "cover" and can be taken off fast times. But weighs about 20g more!
