That is certainly not so easy to answer for several reasons.
On the one hand it is a matter of taste and it is in the face of the viewer, on the other hand it is difficult to compare games from different generations.
Nevertheless: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword makes hell of a lot right now and I will try in a clear and spoiler free review to show what and why:
Graphics:
Skyward Sword feels like a moving painting. One can regard it as a mixture of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess and I think is easy to look beautiful. On this point I will of course not everyone will agree. But what you can deny in any case, is that in the graphics incredible attention to detail lies and that it takes place as a unified whole.
In addition, the graphics are timeless and will still be nice to look at in years, whereas aging "realistic" looking games quickly.
Presentation:
This time Nintendo has given a lot of effort in the story. I do not want to reveal too much, but it will happen some unexpected turns.
The cutscenes and plot twists are very well staged and let an eagerly await what probably happens next.
Finally there is also again original characters that are likely to remain very long in the memory. Associated with many side quests, as it has not seen since Majora's Mask.
Sound:
Zelda music is simply legendary. While no truly new earwigs like in this part included in Ocarina of Time, but the game is accompanied constantly by beautiful Zelda music and often one finds again once well known, partly in different versions.
For the first time the music has been recorded with an orchestra and you can hear that.
Gameplay:
Here, the game probably the biggest improvements compared to old parts, and thus also its greatest strengths and weaknesses.
Personally, I find the new control great! Motion Plus has with me 100% always work, I had to readjust not once.
At first everything is slightly delayed (really easy) acts, but with time you get used to it and find it a no longer on.
In addition to the sword all items with MotionPlus be controlled, so you can for example. let its Beetle fly through the air, or throwing or rolling bombs. Who did not ever want to feel like you left sword movements 1: 1 run.
I do not ever want another controller for a Legend of Zelda game, it just feels right in!
(I said that the new game could be one of the greatest weaknesses of the game because you have to switch to Classic Control no way, as the game's fully designed for MotionPlus. Not everyone is the new control like it, but I beg you not to demonize before the test and to give the whole thing a chance to really get used to it quickly!)
Dungeons & Bosses:
Here lies one of the great strengths of Skyward Sword. The dungeons are all fantastic. A good quality Dungeon one is used to from Zelda, but these are surpassed my opinion again, because they are provided incredibly atmospheric and with really nice puzzles. The icing of each temple is the boss fight. Although it runs to 90% after the scheme: "Use the Item found to the Boss at his vulnerability" from, but the fights are so well orchestrated that despite the simple transparency a brilliant gaming experience arises. Here are some of the best boss fights of The Legend of Zelda series are in my opinion there!
Difficulty:
There is a good reason why you do not like usually with three, but with six hearts the game starts. Many opponents draw with a goal from an entire heart and if I'm honest, with three hearts I would be the one time or another died in the early days.
Moreover, the opponents generally wreak more damage, it is also more difficult to defeat by the Motion Plus control them.
You have to usually prepare a little better, it never hurts a few fairies or drinking while having!
The puzzles are not too heavy and not too light. Some are in many puzzles something have to think that others will see it as not a challenge.
If I had to compare the level of difficulty with other Zelda, I would classify it to "medium" to "medium-high".
Skyward Sword is heavier than for example Windwaker, Twilight Princess and as the two Nintendo DS parts, but lighter than, for example, A Link to the Past, Zelda I or links Awakening. I would say, about on par with Ocarina of Time to his time. The games in general are still difficult to compare.
Skyward Sword has certainly not challenged me, but is not unfairly difficult.
I as a video game and Zelda experienced players had no problems to come effortlessly through the game.
Duration fun:
After almost 38 hours, I had through the game. The story is captivating and you can not like to the controller from the hand to insert a pause. Everywhere side quest can be found that keep one of the already long story. Even after 38 hours I still lack a bit of 100%.
If you have the game through, there will be an incentive for a second playthrough. What will be the incentive, I do not anticipate at this point, as it surely would like some out for yourself.
Depending on how perfect you want to play the game, you will be busy with Skyward Sword 32-80 hours, I guess.
Total:
To answer the question from my headline: Yes and no, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is in my opinion at least one of the best Zelda.
Each Zelda has its ups and downs and just as it is with Skyward Sword. The MotionPlus control to that extent is unique in the video game industry. After Ocarina of Time it was first done it again the series to revulotionieren. The beautiful, unique artwork, the captivating story, the perfect gameplay, this game will stay with me a long time.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is for me one of the best video games ever kreirt.
It brings gameplay and action-adventure genre to a whole new level.
This is but just that Wii game on which we have all been waiting for. As time twiligt Princess appeared, thought surely the most, as it would be like links Sword 1: 1 to control and at the latest after Wii Sports: Resort one wished for such a game, in which one had to wait until now to no avail.
But the wait was worth it:
If you have a Wii and this masterpiece not At length, is your own fault and missed one of the best video game experiences that you can have at present.
