The Italian violinist Giuliano Carmignola and the conductor - also Italian - Andrea Marcon here give us a very good interpretation of Op. 3 of Pietro Locatelli, accompanied by the Baroque Orchestra of Venice. This op. 3 - still says "L'Arte del Violino" - is the best known work of this composer and virtuoso violinist transalpine (1695 to 1764) of the Baroque era. Note that this CD does not include the complete concertos in question. The art of phrasing Carmignola and of his virtuosity full play here for Locatelli who was a pupil of Corelli and lived together with Bach, Teleman and Tartini. Carmignola, who plays on a baroque violin, draws features authentic sounds of his instrument. As the chief and the orchestra, they are quite up to this very good record production.
