An unusual album where as the title suggests there is one piece in duet, trio and 2 4 quartet. A tour to a rhythmic music search and slightly avant-garde. Big musicians Present: the tenor Saxony Coleman Hawkins Hank Jones pianist (replaced on the last two tracks by Eddie Costa), bassist George Duvivier and leader Shelly Manne on drums. The disc was enregstré in February 1962. The first 4 tracks are very interesting rhythmically especially as the battery Shelly is very well done. A curiosity to track 5, Coleman Hawkins plays the piano (trick question for a blindfold test!) In an improvised dialogue with the drummer. However, this is not the song I like. On climate change with Eddie Costa (vibraphone on "Sicks of us" and piano on "Lean on me," the two pieces being much sought after. A good drive, a little heterogeneous, showing the diversity of musical worlds Shelly Manne. Between 4 and 5 stars.
