Never before I found it so hard to rate a game!

El Shaddai is not a game where you can show just postive and negative aspects and draw a conclusion. [Spoiler free]
That would go quite formidable in the pants, because this piece of software is easy to spat essential and unusual.
To be assessed conventionally has it therefore does not deserve.
At times it seems that is quite so, as if all the world's leading art professors have been involved in it or as if one state of all images from the Museum of Art and the Louvre squeezed a large collage on one PS3 game.
Really!
I mean the whole exactly as I say it!
Visually this game is a single, living, moving work of art. It's absolutely stunning.
Not even other masterpieces of video game culture as Okami, Shadow of the Colossus or Max Payne 2, who highlighted the art aspect strongly can compete with El Shaddai.
In this respect the game is downright influential and pioneering.
Also soundscape and voice [albeit only in English] are very well done and provide the right atmosphere.
The story is absolutely captivating with its unconsumed, religious setting and the brilliant presentation does the rest.
In short: This game you complete skin with its incomparable style of the stool.
However, without criticism, it comes, unfortunately, despite all the superlatives and enthusiasm, not away.
Without the shortcomings [which has undoubtedly now time], we would have vohl dealing with a major title in video game history ... Schade. But would probably also become overkill.
The first shortcoming is already the main character Enoch [which derives from the biblical Book of Enoch]. He is in fact absolutely colorless, silent and interchangeable.
Unlike, for example, link from the LoZ series he also offers no potential for identification or even a cult.
And that does not fit as to the otherwise dazzling, game world.
It is also a pity. that playfully is a completely conventional unit in El Shaddai.

But mainly a hack 'n slay fighting game in the style of Devil May Cry and God of War.
The biggest difference to this genre representatives is that there are no shortcuts, but just the attack key must be pressed with a certain timing.

El Shaddai is visually and acoustically a virtually unprecedented achievement in the video game world. Absolutely unique!
For the title "Game of the Year" or even "masterpiece", the developers have dared but playful enough.
There are just games that have previously all been done a lot better.
Technically gameplay awaits you in between pretty much idle.
Nevertheless, you are perfectly entertained the playful thin places, even if they do not make "fun" in the true sense.

I've thought long as I this "something" now is to evaluate and have micht finally decided on 4 stars because 5 based on the deficiencies concerning the playability would be too much, the game on the other hand, is so beautiful that a review of only 3 stars would be too hard.
So I give 4 and end with the conclusion:
Accesses. Really. All of them. Core as casual. Young and old. Male and female.
If games like Uncharted 2, Final Fantasy XIII or GTA IV are long gone from the scene of your memories, you can see this game as clear as a movie before you.
