The king's illness, it is the story of a cross court physician who seeks to advance the surgery, even maligned art at the time in medical circles, and that of a man, the Sun King already on the decline, which has made her life a true representation. The story delves into the intimate characters, rightly, confronting the etiquette of the court to the more sordid reality of the horrors of the king's body (a few sordid descriptions prove).
The author handles a clear and limpid language that perfectly serves the story, the reading is easy and enjoyable. The only flaw is maybe we left hungry ... We would like to continue the tracks that appear in the story, the characters that appear briefly (the injured Protestant, the man in the iron mask, the pharmacist. ..) The most interesting remains the quest for the young doctor, who experiences, questions itself, matches across Europe, to question the ancient theory of humors, with that knowledge comes first through experience.
It is therefore a good novel that deserved to be developed, excavated and deepened.
