Just a clarification size before commenting this album: I love Dio (the band and Man), my critics do not question the quality of the interpreted songs, but rather the production of the album. This is an album that starts with advantages in spades: Singer exceptional respected by all rightly included in his mythical album live in full, recognized musicians, interesting titles also on the second CD (Tarot Woman, Sign of the southern cross, Gates of Babylon and others), yet this album does not hold its promises. The production is very average, very mixed voices forward, Ronnie is not in an exceptional form (no disrespect), but his song is heavy, slowed from the CD version. Guitar Doug Aldrich behind. Only the rhythm section (Rudy Sarzo and Simon Wright) is up and well mixed. CD1 therefore incorporates the entire "Holy Diver", but the disappointment is waiting for you, it is difficult to recognize the missing pieces incredibly energy. What about the endless drum solo that comes from the 3rd song and guitar solo, ending too, which cuts yet very epic "Shame on the night" .Vraiment damage. CD2, as said above, takes a list and set interesante justifying the interest of this recording, but this, alas, the same weaknesses as CD1. In short, this album does not do enough justice to the talent of its author, and is considered as a testimony for collectors fans. Live recordings of Dio (the group), taking many titles of this album, are now sufficiently numerous and qualitative to dispense with it. I prefer by far "Evil or Divine" or the recent "Live At Donington 83/87". (Addition of 20 April 2012: coming to listen to the Deluxe version of Holy Diver I would advise also live tracks recorded at the King Biscuit Flower Hour 30 October 1983). It appears that the DVD-Blue Ray release of this concert more dynamic, but I have not seen and only based on the reviews I've read on this site and elsewhere (addition of 13 April 2013: I just watched the DVD version, and confirm that the production problems mentioned on the double CD is not as marked, making listening to the DVD much more pleasant: thus head over to this version instead). But this is just my opinion, you are free to choose, and it does not detract from the admiration I have for this great man.
