Apart from its excellent plates, with or without Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler a particular weakness seems - and a special feel - for composing film music to have. After his stroke of genius to "Local Hero" (a declaration of love to his native Scotland) succeeds Knopfler also score on the US political satire "Wag the Dog" to combine its distinctive clean guitar sound with voices, the film topics matching. So Knopfler sounds by example in "An American Hero" and American (in the film, thereby reversing the staged war hero aka Woody Harrelson back), while it can flash at the instrumental Ohrenschmaus "Working on it" the ancient magic of the Dire Straits. The title track, in turn, reflects the biting irony of (despite Star ensembles rather average) film. In total there are in any case provided for guests, Mark Knopfler does what its name suggests, and beiweist once more his musical versatility, although this Hollywood blockbuster is certainly not as tailored-made for him as "Local Hero". The only drawback is the short playing time (9 tracks in about 30 minutes), but Knopfler worked so here primarily for the film, and a longer score would have not made entertaining.
