1 feel, appearance, processing
The camera is significantly larger than a pack of cigarettes, for shirt or trouser pocket, slightly too large. Subjectively, it seems rather quite difficult. The handle on the right side (left-handers are unlucky) is highlighted so that you can hold the camera better. Processing with black anodized metal is very high. Even the side door for USB & HDMI port is exemplary constructed stable and durable, often provide cameras only fiddly rubber covers.
The buttons are perhaps a bit a lot, but are (also for large hands easily accessible and offer a clean pressure point.
Not so good enjoyed the display, which was very scratch-prone. Hardly made the first photos, I had a couple of unpleasant micro-scratches.

2. lens, image quality and shutter lag
The focal length of the camera drops from 24 to 432 mm and thus represents the absolute strength of the camera. The lens achieves maximum aperture of F3.2 (wide angle) to 5.8 (Tele). An optical image stabilizer to prevent camera shake, and does so more or less orderly, though not inspiring.
The WB700 offers almost countless manual controls, the photo results are very different good here. Shutter lag is barely noticeable, for snapshots, the camera is so well suited (unless you have to wait for the lame flash).
In automatic mode, the image quality is both indoors (with flash) and outdoors only moderately. Especially noticeable is the high noise levels even at low light sensitivity.

3. Battery & Fittings
Copying images to your computer quickly and easily by going eventually card reader or via a USB cable.
The battery lasts for about 280 shots without flash for photos, with durable flash use this value halved loose. Likewise, reducing the operating time when the camera is turned on and off frequently or zoomed.
Went a step in the right direction is Samsung recharge the device into the USB port of a computer or corresponding charger with the option. But why then the camera itself does not have any standard micro-USB socket, but a visually similar and equally large proprietary connector remains the secret of Samsung.
So again a cable more ...
Why learn the camera manufacturer is not out of the mobile phone producers and build a unified charging option Micro-USB port on the device? Probably the EU legislator must here only threaten.

4. practicality
The camera offers a wide range of motifs of all kinds, and is due to its relatively small size and its an ideal travel companion.
The many manual controls invite you to try what's fun.
The joy is clouded, however, by the less beautiful picture quality.
Very inconvenient I find attached the flash. Right next to the handle and the trigger is because that is in my nice middle finger over it. Which is then illuminated beautifully, the motive remains unclear.

5. Miscellaneous
The video function is acceptable. The relatively high weight of the camera it is more stable than lighter copies and the moving pictures reduce blur. For smaller movies's was good enough, it does not replace a cam but of course.
A printed manual Samsung has saved himself, quite so, the pdf file on CD is always enough.
The packaging is small and compact. Here is not cheating or blistered, but is limited to what is necessary.

Conclusion
The Samsung WB700 offers a huge zoom range and a variety of settings. Your weaknesses are clearly in the picture quality. Interestingly, this camera is like to try that much so for people and can do without large-format prints of their works.
For a limited buy rating and a total of 3 star.
