since I have cable for my "old" calculator Serial, and USB / Serial converter does not really work well for this, I have decided on the only available PCI Express slot of my Multimedia PC Akoya P5220 D (MD8816) install an interface card.
After a short search, I decided for this card.
The installation was straightforward, and Windows 8 has recognized the card immediately and set up the appropriate drivers. The included CD with driver software was therefore not required)
Now I can via COM1 and COM2 perform the serial data exchange again. What more do you want?
PS: Anyone have an additional parallel port needed can buy connections from the same manufacturer also a card with 1x Parallel + 2x serial.
