I took more time than usual to prepare, to use it in different places (rooms, corridor at night, etc.). This allowed me to check essential qualities.
The first is the sensitivity really "panoramic" on motion detection. The sensor "is" indeed clearly in all directions from one hemisphere which he is the center: left, right, up, down, nothing escapes him. The scope of announced five meters is actually reached.
A note about these trials; I had just asked the pilot on different furniture. Its base is large enough, it is very stable. If mounting is really easy (I ended up screwing - choice of my wife - in our room), so it is not really necessary for those who would favor the least effort and / or mobility of the machine .
The second remarkable quality is the lighting mode which results from a clever design. The LED lamp is hidden under a tiny opening facing down, leading its rays on a reflective surface. In action so it gives a nice light: enough to dispel the darkness in an entire room without dazzling by too point source.
The four AA batteries, rechargeable regarding me, are not provided (that is clearly stated), but the consumption of the LED is so low that it is practically less than the self discharge of the batteries. For a "normal" use, they should take one year at a minimum. Another advantage of LED: it is almost "immortal".
The only micro-problem I have encountered is an initial hesitation a minute to read the instructions for inserting the batteries. Indeed, he said, "Turn the cover of the button etc." Now there are two buttons, the second being, in reception, hidden by the mounting plate. A glance at the diagram (page 16) quickly removed the misunderstanding.
In summary, a pilot which has done its job: to be forgotten when it is at rest, although effectively detect movement and illuminate but smoothly through an original architecture when needed.
