When I learned that their best for Technisat HD receiver a delivery time 10 weeks indicates (ie well after the World Cup), I looked around for alternatives.
Since there was no receiver who has received across the board good reviews, I decided, despite some negative reviews here on Amazon and also in other forums for the Humax. A huge advantage was that I need no additional CI-module, but the smart card can easily slide into the available card reader.
I had read the Technisat PR-K, which Despite Scart brought a pretty good and sharp image. The Humax is this in every way, the picture is just as good as before and even a bit sharper. The HD channels surpass this again I clarity and sharpness. There's really nothing to complain about.
In the basic settings from Humax me the picture is not 100% pleased. Who calls his own this receiver, should the Service menu> Screen> Resolution select "Manual" and then test the various settings, in order to check at what resolution be TV represents the best image. In my 3 year old Philips device I give the SD channels now with 576i and HD channels with 1080i via HDMI.
What I do not like and which I was spoiled at beinem old Technisat receivers is the EPG. Since none of the manufacturers in terms of clarity and information Technisat can hold a candle.
The Humax fetches the EPG data only when you switch to the program (If RTL is switched kommmen the EPG information for RTL, RTL2 and several other stations). This would be to get over quite when the data when you turn off the receiver would be held. Not only when disconnecting from the grid, but also when switching to standby, the EPG data is gone. That's really weak !!! I still have the hope that this can be fixed by a firmware update. Is not beautiful, but I can live with that, because I have my Logitech Harmony remote is programmed so that the receiver selects one after 8 different transmitters and lingers on every 20 seconds to load the data EPG data. In brief 3 minutes now I have all the data of the stations that I look in the rule.
Power consumption is absolutely fine. Standby: 1 watt, the operation I have 15 watts measured by yourself.
So who's looking for a simple HD-capable cable box, which I can recommend the Humax. The most important feature for me, namely a top image quality it meets 100%. Who like recording option attaches importance to other things you should look at the Kokurrenzprodukten other manufacturers.
