About the device itself:
I am excited about this device seeeehr - but only with WP8.1.
Previously had an iPhone 4S and I switched to the Lumia 1020. I did not regret it !!
I love this phone. It is fast, the battery lasts longer, the camera is awesome, and it looks stylish!
Hardware / Performance:
The hardware is quite outdated. Dual Core 1.5GHz, 2GB RAM, 4.5 "OLED with 1280x720 pixels, 2000mAh battery.
Despite the rather weak hardware you do not notice it on. It runs very fast and flowing. Also Apps launch quickly and it shows no stuttering. Only in compute-intensive games you can discover stuttering if you have still open many apps in the background.
Handling:
My fear was that I can not with one hand, the Lumia 1020 and that the camera on the back is highly annoying. This fear I have not. With my rather large hands (normal men's hands) I had no problems with the one-hand operation. Only in bed, if you hold the unit halfway over head, it is somewhat difficult to hold the device.
The Kameraausbuchtung bother me in any way. Find this actually quite good because I can thus keep it safe in your hands, what is also random but that it just get there with my hand size. In your pocket, it is if you can show the display inward and not at all annoying. Not even with the separately available grip.
Battery life:
Bin frequent users and partly I do not get a whole day (8-23 Clock). But my iPhone 4s held often only to 18/19 clock and had to go back to the power outlet.
But that alone is Whatsapp debt, as this consumes an awful lot of battery. If I do not / need less Whatsapp, I come through LOCKER a whole day, despite e-mails, Facebook Messenger, news feeds, etc. As well as 50% are possible at the end of the day.
Who likes to do and a lot of pictures, you should also set a erhöten consumption. But even so it is easier to over a day. In a tour of Heidelberg and 146 photos taken, I just came across the day, however, the cell phone was hardly used otherwise. Here is also the camera grip for the Lumia 1020 highly recommended, can thus make more pleasant photos. It also has a spare battery which 30-40% (net) provides more battery. Even with the handle, it is not really disturbing in his pocket, but usually looks the handle out of your pocket it when this is something close.
Camera:
The 41MP PureView camera is a blessing. I love this camera !!! The photos are of something awesome and the iPhone 4S is not nearly as zoom. The images from being blurred and barely a halfway steady hand you can hammer out sharp images even with an exposure time of 1 second even without a tripod !!! This creates, in my opinion, no other smartphone with stabilization. From the quality to mention. You can also subsequently extremely wide zoom in on the image and sees little pixels or this very late. Partly discover also details that had so unnoticed.
For a smartphone simply amazing and can compete with compact cameras.
A pity I think, however, that the exposure time max. May take 4 seconds. To ensure that useful images are indeed feasible with tripod even in the dead of night, but the ISO 800 ensures visible image noise. After all: other Smarphones doing just totally black images!
Furthermore TOP are the settings. None of DSLR and / or compact camera I find the menu as ingenious as in Nokia. The manual image settings can be very intuitive, quick and easy to change - awesome!
What speaks for the high resolution is zooming. You can zoom in without really to have a loss in image quality. Nevertheless, the original image with the 36 / 38MP is stored (depending on the image format) that enables subsequently still rauszuzoomen and composing a shot, without the original image will be destroyed next to the range zoomed picture yet.
A DSLR is what Zoom terms of course much better, but if you ranzoomt later, it is quite fast pixelated (at least in my Canon EOS 1000D)! This is not the case with the Lumia. That's why you need to know with a DSLR before, what motive you want to have, with the Lumia 1020 photographing easy and chooses later cut his wish :)
Small drawback: By the first photo it takes a few seconds. Here, you should allow about 5 seconds, and the image needs another 3-5 seconds to store before a new can be shot. Mich hats personally hardly disturbed, because the image quality is just awesome.
The additional apps from Nokia (Panorame, Refocus, Cnemagraph, Creative Studio, etc) are awesome and easy to use and it's fun in order to make unique pictures :)
Windows Phone 8.1:
I personally like it more than iOS or Android. It's a little getting used to, but it was worth it. The Live Tiles to know like, The operating system is very fast and looks nice. Only the menu is a bit unstructured, but I can handle. But before I write a lot here: Everyone should test it yourself times for a few days / weeks and then notice if he can handle it or not. I do not regret it in any case to be taken this step!
Apps:
With Windows Phone, there are not as many apps, such as. with iOS or Android. This bothers me, but very little.
The key is also available for Windows Phone and there are some brilliant Drittanbierter apps that hardly could have been better.
Conclusion:
To my iPhone 4s I will not go back.
I like the Lumia 1020 and also Windows Phone 8.1 very !!! The speed, ease of use and the ingenious camera make it hard for the competition.
But nevertheless, this unit goes back, I will have no AT & T branding. Get me so again watch probably the Lumia 930, which has a better hardware - but unfortunately also somewhat inferior camera. If I will keep the Lumia 930 or Lumia back to 1020 reach I have to look then times because the camera grip on the go is very convenient and the performance is also satisfactory.
