He is arguably the greatest rapper in Europe: London Slick Rick, who moved with his family to the great New York City in the '70s. His Rapstyle was already in the '80s with "The Great Adventures of Slick Rick," one of the greatest albums of all time, legendary. Five years after his last work, he brought in 1999 his last album, "The Art Of Storytelling" on the market. Even this appeared on Def Jam Recordings and offers guests known as Nas, Canibus, Raekwon and Snoop Dogg also known producers like the Track Masters, Clark Kent or Jazze Pha. Right from the start, white probably the best storyteller of the Hip Hop history to please, so even on the radio very heavy "Street Talkin '" along with Big Boi of OutKast, in which both shine with sovereign rape. A typical New York Banger would be the masterpiece "Me & Nas Bring It To You Hardest" with Nas. The beat is powerful and fast, is accompanied by a dynamic piano playing is perfect for these two exceptional MCs to their verses to go about it. To relax would be "2 Way Street" just right. Again, the basses are indeed of the harder variety, but this is made up for by the bell melody and together with Rick's casual flow for real feast for the ears. Legend Canibus support Slick Rick on "King Piece In The Chess Game". The instrumental is here rather simple, so you will almost only the pungent beat true. However, this does not look much, because you can listen to the vocals of these two artists so perfect, especially with Canibus is a real highlight with its aggressive performance. One of my favorites from "The Art Of Storytelling" is "Impress The Kid" (feat. S & S), which ascends with deep booming bass, which is really good especially when cranked boxes. Even better is that really great "I Run This", in which Rick The Ruler has its own hit, "Children's Story" from 1988 sampled again. Here the beat goes from incredibly fast and is refined with gloomy electro sounds, which sounds with Slick Rick's rapeseed class. Here it is on this plate not everything that glitters is gold, because in addition to all the positive tracks there are also some rather boring and unimaginative and partly also the many skits are unnecessary. But we prefer to focus on the successful, what prevails here undoubtedly. This includes the wonderful melodic and relaxing "Memories", which also contains a couple of jazzy elements and once more with his relaxed Rapstyle's really at the Slick Rick everything. In keeping with the conclusion we get with "I Own America Part II" served the best song. The instrumental is simply a delight. Quiet, yet equipped with nice rhythm and with some instruments such as drums or bass, one is immediately captivated and one might almost, that this song never ends and further tells us forever Rick. As bonus tracks were then still the slightly harder, also really good "We Turn It On" (feat. Doug E. Fresh), as well as two live performances with the old companions Doug E. Fresh, since in the form of their hits "La Di Di "and" The Show ", with pressed on this plate. "The Art Of Storytelling" is really a worthy end of Slick Rick's career was, however, one would beat technically but a lot more can rausholen and can create a masterpiece with this great rapper. Anyone who likes Slick Rick comes on this album not over, but also of the ordinary New York rap lovers should have at least once reingehört.
