The sides are relatively thick, so you can not see through, and also kept in really pure white.
The illustrations by JRR Tolkien are colorful and look very noble on paper.
The slipcase is made of thick cardboard and makes a stable impression.
Very nice is also the full-color, fold-out card that is folded the same as the book and two times (similar to a technical drawing). Something I was disappointed with the runes that appear on the map when they are held up to the light - these are simply printed on the back of the card and appear in backlight logically through ... here I had honestly expected something richer trick.
The Gesamteindruch of binding and other free processing is very good. The only thing that bothered me is that to be found on two or three sides small scharz points and streaks are (possibly smudges when printing?) - Not serious (as few) but at this price you could expect that all sides top are.
Apart from the small flaws, the book is really recommendable - I'll probably also set the appropriate output from the Lord of the Rings yet ...
