Quite grand opera ......

Quite grand opera offers this recording from La Scala in Milan in 1992. A magnificent DOMICILED Luciano Pavarotti, no less Samuel Ramey and Paolo Coni. The other fellow might fall off a bit, especially Daniela Dessi, who do not constantly sings to my mind in this performance. But this should not be hypercritical meant - she sings still very very good. From me there is therefore a clear buy recommendation!

Small side note: At the time of its premiere Luciano Pavarotti was booed because it under a special respiratory failure failed a high tone (he said himself, "it sounded like when a tap of the neck is locked" ... :-). This is typical of the fanatical Milanese public that punishes every little mistake and often outright lies in wait for mistakes of the protagonists. But it is nothing to remember in this recording, Pavarotti sings like he used to - wonderful - with excellent diction and with some wonderfully successful metallic high notes.

The present review here with only one star is therefore incomprehensible and in no way corresponds to the performance shown the singer. That live recordings from an opera house always are somewhat problematic, is nothing new. Here, the DVD is recommended with a recording of this series of performances in the best Dolby Digital (DTS) quality.

To compensate for the mispricing again there are always five-star for this CD !!!
