After approximately 20 years of experience with Apple, it would actually have been logical zuzulegen an iPad. Nevertheless, I am 'cheated' in Androidenland and have gained me the Galaxy Tab (GT).
Why?
This can be explained solely on the basis of ideal size because the ideal compromise between screen size and excellent mobility capability. The iPad is close to me on a Macbook, and ultimately only a separate (carrying) bag 'carried along' with regard to the size. The GT fits perfectly into the inside pocket of a jacket. It is also 380 grams lighter than the iPad (680 g).
One must, however, as Apple user who is spoiled with the fact that (almost) all at once works (plug + play, sync iCal, Address Book, iTunes, etc.) make a few compromises. It's asking a little pioneering spirit, until everything goes as it is just normal. Is the Mac About iTunes does it for syncing Mac to Android more programs that each of his strengths (and weaknesses) has.
If you have to set up everything, it has a great and varied companion for any situation. For me, especially the business capability was important (mail, appointments, contacts, documents and possibly take edit). For those Mac users who have the GT also already risen or have planned the acquisition, briefly a collection of programs which I have had good experiences when syncing and work:
Sync:
Ical + Address: SyncMate 3.0 Beta (there is free and works better than 'Missing Sync')
iTunes (incl. playlist): iSynchr WiFi (Lite version available for free)
Documents (pictures, videos, etc.) to exchange: WebSharing WiFi (USB connection but faster and easier)
Documents:
Read Office documents and edit: ThinkFree Office (is already preinstalled on the GT)
OpenOffice: OpenOffice Document Reader
PDF: ezPDF Reader (alternatively, of course Adobe Reader)
Internet:
Browser: DolphinHD or Opera Mobile (both far better than the pre-installed browser)
The above sync programs work, moreover all wireless, you have to put together anything. You are in the 'Market' is available, which is the app store for Android. To import documents etc. goes next to the Wi-Fi connection also connect via USB. What is impossible for Ipod owners, here goes perfectly: Connect the GT to various Macs and import of various Macs songs on the GT!
Not only at work, in their leisure time my GT has become a well liked companion. In particular, the GPS functionality, it did to me. During a hike, I have recently made with friends and when once again find no trail markers were, was the GT with the satellite images from Google Maps iV with the GPS locating the rescue. With the built-in camera can then immediately take snapshots or even small movies. With 'My Tracks' you can record the migration and afterwards import them into 'Google Maps' or 'Google Earth' on the screen 'nachwandern'.
Otherwise, there are many (often free) apps that are often helpful, such as the 'Öffi' app that home search out the next connection with public transport and with' Maps' and the integrated pedestrian route planner the way to the bus stop place.
My kids take the GT to play. Mir is not so important, and I, for example, like to the multi-person mode when 'Yahtzee' mitspiele. , ,
Next, I'm going to try a 'Augmented Reality' navigation program. The GT is as usual mounted by suction cup on the windshield of the car and looking through the built-in camera and projected forward in this figure, the arrows for routing. 'M Curious how well this works.
There are as we have said many nice apps that I could list here, and the list is almost every day for more. , ,
Since about 4 weeks I now have the GT in use and I do not like it now miss.
