Notice incomplete due to incompatibility: method to check your appliances before buying this product

I recently had the opportunity to try a different shows connected (Striiv Personal Touch Tracker Activity and Sleep with smartphone notifications) and I was not able to connect with any of the smartphones of the house (all Android ). The non-compatibility with beginning unable to download the ad hoc application on the smartphone.

Before asking to test it I took care to read the attached information sheet ("Connection: Bluetooth", no further details), to go for a walk on the site via my computer ("ask your operator if your devices compatible with "no thank you) and download the application on two smartphones: carefree.

In practice this is not enough, even if we have grown a time as possible matching the bracelet activity with the smartphone Archos 50 Platinum (purchased in December 2013 Android): both devices have well ended up recognizing the Wrist given a code, but once this compound on the smartphone, an indication of compatibility is not appeared.

A basic bluetooth connection is not enough, we must have the Bluetooth Smart Ready.
This type of Bluetooth, which will allow us to interact with moults auxiliaries, is very recent.
For people equipped with Android, you must have a minimum Android version 4.3 - version that seems to have been launched recently, in summer 2013.

An indication will appear immediately indicating (in my case) that the smartphone is not compatible, it is not equipped with Bluetooth Smart.

In conclusion before reviewing it I could still notice about the bracelet, these derivatives, certainly very innovative and will soon in my opinion to be widely used, use a very recent technology which does yet enjoyed our smartphones last year.

Grip the strap of activity:

- General appearance: pretty flexible plastic, very smooth. Off the bracelet shows no screen, the appearance is homogenous. My model is all black, SAR of this side, a small metal plate engraved "Garmin" is affixed to the outside of the free end. The fastening system is one of a pool of bracelet, a removable loop allows to slide the projecting portion. I received the size L, I can still adequately secure the strap using the latest attachment points (rather thin wrist). It is not necessary to tighten the strap to prevent it from turning, the upper part (corresponding to the screen) is rigid and it is impossible to turn the bracelet once in place (which implies of fix it the right way from the start!).

- Upload: simple and fast enough. A clip attached to a USB port cable (one meter long) is provided. This clip opens with the touch and just "swallow" the screen part of the bracelet, simply position it so as to align the 4 small spikes of the clamp and 4 small plates matching bracelet (nothing to do in particular, but to identify in which direction to clamp them). The whole is very stable.

- Reading: to wake the screen (which goes to sleep 5 or 6 seconds too fast, may be adjustable, but I have not found) must be firmly tapping twice on the screen. The time and date (payment) appear. A finger slipped on the screen shows the symbol on (step) with the number zero. Another slip returns on time.
For other functions, go to The display time / date and hold your finger on a good second time: 3 initials appear. By scanning the finger other two lots of 3 acronyms are available. Each batch is added back arrow. Note: the bracelet falls asleep very quickly and always return to the time when tapped twice.
In full sun, with brightness set all the way, reading is not very easy: you have to tilt the wrist in the right angle, the indications now appear, but very weakly.

- First step: access to Bluetooth: press time until the appearance of a 3 acronyms, swipe a finger to find the Bluetooth logo, the touch of the finger. Appears the message "Pair Mobile Device?" with an "OK" symbol next to it. Once this identification is, leave the watch and go prepare the smartphone or tablet by downloading the application that will guide you to your Bluetooth, you can pair the two devices according to the usual approach, taking the bracelet whenever your where will the smartphone tablet spotted by bluetooth. Then click on the letters "OK" pre-quoted, the bracelet will show a 6-digit code that you see in your device to connect.

- Next steps: to see by looking at other opinion commentators, I have unfortunately not been further!

For the time we tried, my husband and I, to see if it was possible to download a bluetooth upgrade our devices, which seems to us possible. If our research become successful, I will update this comment.
