Infernal Devices (Paperback)

Customer Review

As the American girl Tessa is asked by her brother to England, she suspects nothing of the living shadow fairy tale in the streets of London. Neither she suspects that the "Dark Sisters" caught her brother and they need for the purposes of "Magister". This takes her talent, her unusual gift and as Tessa already lost seems that Schättenjäger, the "police of the underworld", to save and Dip. But it is not over yet ...

For those who have already read "The Mortal Instruments" (better known as "The Mortal Instruments" in English) comes here's a little incentive for this prequel (history):

All those who believe that they will miss Jace for his comments, I can say that William Herondale (or Will) is the right to fill this gap (some may guess why). You could call him as Jace in the Victorian era look (hence the title of the review, but I will not reveal too much for those who have not read all 3 parts of other series).

Tessa is a very curious girl. It asks for all that is not rude and is to courageously and from time to time also good for a few sayings. She loves her brother more than anything, even more than his (not exactly small) Macken away.

James Carstairs (Jem) is (in my opinion) to any of the previous characters. He is Will's best friend but very fragile, that has to do with a secret that would reveal every reader himself. He's nice, trustworthy, building, ... - just not as sharp-tongued and arrogant as Will.

The farther emerges Magnus Bane again and some ancestors of already known shadow hunters from the "Mortal Instruments". Even the cat Church. However, I wonder what all do in London when the other row has yet played in America ...

Those who do not know the "Mortal Instruments", however, can start with "Clockwork Angel". The whole shadow world is naturally explained because Tessa knows them not. That should not be a problem for new entrants. And the others will not get bored yet.

Cassandra Clare writes in the 3rd person. Most of Tessa's perspective, but also from Wills. There are as always the dialogues that reveal the most, but the descriptions that are limited, I came this time quite well clear.

Why 5 stars? I wanted to give only 4, but when I had finished this review, I realized that it really should be 4.5 stars. I love the "Mortal Instruments" and this series is very close. Sure, it's the same world, but not the same story. A character I found annoying, other more could have been rausholen and the cliffhanger at the end was also common. Not because of the main story, but because of the characters. The only thing I wonder is in fact how it will go with whom. And what I like about Cassandra Clare's books. That one not only grabs the story, but especially the people.

So get this book, otherwise you miss something !!!
Joyous Read

PS: Now I need new books again, but this world is so great that anything happens to me boring.
