Songwriter? Schlager? Easy Listening? Big Band? It falls truly difficult to sort somehow this second '76th album in the context of Westlife-Werke. The first three, produced by Peter Hesslein albums generally have the reputation of being not necessarily belong to the milestones of music history. But "Bittersweet" is of all three by far the largest low blow. May the texts partly be socially critical and profound, musically this pop-like big band arrangements including strings, brass and choir simply too much to bear. I know Western Hagens whole - artistically very changeable - Reportoire, and on any controversial album I find always a few songs that make their way into the foreground, but to "Bittersweet" I will not find even the best will. Conclusion: very, very bitter, and even for fans barely audible.
