As described in other reviews, I've also found that it certainly can be really hot on the housing! The material does not seem to hurt so far, but in children should be near the unit (anyway) did not stand.
I can also only recommend the toaster - as it is written in the manual - to operate empty approximately 5x at full level before preparing the first toast is for consumption. The first two or three passages it smells really still very strict. I got the toaster just let go through on the balcony a few times;)
However, one should him here, as recommended, allow to cool between the events !!
For the price I would recommend this device definitely.
