As much as they act outwardly like a castle, even a bulwark -uneinnehmbar, inviolable, so they touch in their lyrics. Pain, loneliness and isolation are your key issues. Lovesickness, drugs and last but not least the irrelevance that brings the big city life with it, cause the individual existence is but a caricature of a past, maybe never lived life. How to deal with it? Bad, if you listen to Paul Banks and Co. so. And you will be happy to listen to, can be compliant to be drawn into any song to can be emotionally more and noodles again. Currently, no one rises to suffer the beauty, the lamentation over their own imperfection to such art form as Interpol. That was on "Antics" and so is continued consistently on "Our Love to Admire".
Opulent and cryptic as ever, but a little synthesizer-heavy, so more rock presents the band in 2007. Major changes or even a change were to be expected, nor would it have been desirable. To maintain the high level of its predecessor was the big challenge, and that they create in literally playing. The hit potential is far from exhausted by the first single (The Heinrich Maneuver). As still lurks as something that would be worth it to be pressed on an EP. Pioneer to the Falls, All Fired Up, The Scale, Mammoth and most importantly - at least for me - Rest My Chemistry are taken every song itself, little disturbing masterpieces. And the whole thing is even danceable.
One can only say: mission fulfilled - Five stars!
