Reading this book, one can only be shocked, both by the way was his, but also by the sad fact of the state of nature on our planet. Surely we have an "idea" of his condition, very bad. Lierre Keith us into the microcosm of this nature and offers a unique perspective rarely reported, the real consequences of intensive farming, but also intensive livestock farming.
For the record, I discovered the work of Lierre Keith in August 2011 through excerpts from his book in English - translated in 2009. Then I was vegetarian for four years, but in a phase of polling for two months about the real utility of what I decided to do - become a vegetarian - for empathy with animal suffering ... On one hand, it does not serve the animal interests, but as explained in particular and Ivy Keith (and she is not the only one), the human being needs fat / animal protein to live. So I was doubly misguided.
I gave this book to my mother (she is devouring it), and the next are my children ... if I can with this little gift them to avoid making the same mistake as me.
This book is "necessary" because it teaches us that no one teaches us and because it puts into perspective our ignorance of how this Nature that is ours and of which we are an intrinsic part.
This reading is "essential" to understanding what really is agriculture and what the Global Food Policy.
