In poor coverage with UMTS the TP Link basically runs properly and the device is basically foolproof. For the two stars.
However, the device also has some downsides, the nerves in daily operation:
* No EDGE support. Ie without UMTS network, the device goes back to GPRS. The change back to 3G then takes forever or not happened. On the train, the device is thus hardly makes sense to use. The Huawei is clearly better. It may EDGE and jumps quickly back to 3G.
* There are no details about the connection appears: UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, HSPA ... For TP-Link is all 3G.
* Roaming can not be deactivated: just in border areas (eg in my home I get power from NL) should be a function exists, the roaming disabled. Unfortunately not with TP Link. He would instantly connect with all networks which allow, the registration.
* Micro SD Slot: The card is not accessible via WLAN. That in the end the unit is a micro SD reader with USB port. Even the old Huawei device, the SD content via HTTP server. Should not be a problem, because the HTTP server runs anyway. One would only mount SD.,
* Updates: this seems to be a TP-Link peculiarity. Although each of their cheap equipment has an update function, but there is never never updates.
Alternative: for the same price, there is the Huawei E5331 / E5332 or possibly ZTE MF60.
