The "other" Manowar album

The Triumph of Steel (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"The Triumph of Steel" from 1992 is the seventh album of Manowar and came in contrast to its predecessors for the first time after a slightly longer pause album. Likewise, here is the occupation Eric Adams (vocals), Joey de Maio (bass), David Shankle (Guitars) and Rhino heard (drums). It should remain in this occupation in single album since Shankle and Rhino a few years later by guitarist Karl Logan (to date here) and great-drummer Scott Columbus (RIP) have been replaced.

But the one-time occupation is not only the reason differ "The Triumph of Steel" of the predecessors and successors. Manowar appeared after the resounding success of "Kings of Metal" not wanting to tread water, but let off steam from musically. Taking the band like before, underpowered to copy itself (which I can sign only partially though) today, so sounds in "The Triumph of Steel" every song differently and contains despite the typical Manowar handwriting elements you before and after never heard again from the band.

"Achilles, Agony & Ecstasy" - Alone this mini opera at the beginning is unique in the history of Manowar. Proud 28 (!) Minutes takes this song miniseries which is based on the ancient Greek story "Iliad" and that even fairly well sums up. We hear this crunchy Metal (Hector Storms The Wall), speedy Metal (The Desecration of Hector's Body), instrumental passages (solos, including Funeral March) and ballads. In total it looks sometimes a bit over-ambitious to me: The transitions are not very clean and that the yard long Solis really had to deal with inside, one can argue about. Nevertheless, a respectable business. 4/5 stars

"Metal Warriors" is now considered classic band which is still like unpacked. No wonder: The song is catchy, conveys Manowars setting like no other (Heavy Metal, or no metal at all, whimps and posers leave the hall!) Has a great riff and a great solos and Eric screams the hell out of them , 5/5 stars

"Ride the dragon" is introduced with dragon roar, before the song losprischt manner in the best Power Metal. A hymn neckbreaker par excellance. War "Metal Warriors" still quite typical of the band and could easily have are found on the two previous discs, one notices here the feature of this occupation: Rhino and Shankle have it just like faster;). 5/5

"Spirit Horse of the Cherokee" Otherwise there have Manowar yes rather with the Norse myths, but here it is in the Indian region. The song will be preceded by a spoken intro, which tells of the conquest of America by the white man. In total fit, but a bit too long for my circumstances. The actual song, however, is a real firecracker: In the verses rather worn and the drum rhythm sounds like Indian war drums. The chorus of the song then takes on tour and is really anthemic. For me one of the best Manowar songs ever. 5/5 stars

"Burning" is only song on the album, with which I can start at least. A mean up-tempo song around the Incarnate. Eric is obviously outstanding, but I can not be quite warm with the title. Bad he is not yet. - No vote

"The Power of Thy Sword" - the sound of another beating swords open this neckbreaker. A hymn-like power metal song with a quiet interlude in the middle. 5/5 stars

"The Demons Whip" - A sluggish, powerful number that suddenly is swift as an arrow at the end. 5/5 stars

"Master of the Wind" - complete unmetallisch and thus in itself very unusual for the creation of Manowar. Only supported by an acoustic guitar, modest use underpainting and Eric's powerful voice has emerged a quiet, anthemic song that set the benchmark for Manowar ballad is next to "Heart of Steel" - however it is the most unusual song the band ever. 5/5 stars

Overall conclusion:

No song like the other, no song sounds like on its predecessors ... and yet they all sound like Manowar. "The Triumph of Steel" stands out well most of the other works of the band from and yet combines all the strengths of the force. On one level with "Battle Hymns", "Hail to England" and "Kings of Metal". Full 5 stars.
