Inbetiebnahme

Just to infect (eg, using the supplied HDMI cable) and turn. The device first checks to possibly available updates and downloads them. After the initial setup menu follows. As satellite Astra 19.2 East with a corresponding channel list (TV and Radio) is preset so that the automatic search for just under one minute is ready. If a desired station is not detected, you can of course also manually search for it. If you have then adjusted the preset stations still order your own wishes (lasts thanks to easy handling not take long), kanns go.
The HD + card is valid for one year from activation plugged at delivery in the device and is activated when first selecting an encrypted transmitter itself. If you do not want this, remove the card before.

Operating

The turning of the Eco and the normal standby mode takes about 20-25 seconds (was previously a non-HD receiver, who needed just as long ..).
The unit runs silently, with me whistles nothing.
If a radio station provides several playback options offered (eg sound track in stereo, Dolby, or multi-channel sound that is displayed in the info window that is visible by default when you switch services and at the beginning of a new mission and can be changed with two buttons.
Switching between two channels is done after 2-3 seconds (HD to HD).
About the Receiver one also controls the teletext and the electronic program guide (EPG) of the current and subsequent program displays a to a button (up to 1 week), and for the channel list that you have created at startup. Programmed by pressing the Record button you can create a recording for the highlighted program.

Recording

Programming happens via the EPG (see operating) or entered manually. In an accompanying menu one can adjust whether and how much lead and lag time to be factored in when recording. It may happen that the recording finally so called as the mission that ran (eg Tagesschau instead scene) while in operation.
The direct recording simply starts with the Record button. It can be set, how long to be included (period or end of the current / next program).
The shift is started and the image stopped while running in the background recording of the program by pressing the pause button.
The recording medium is connected to the rear device to a USB port, meaning it basically operate USB sticks and external (2.5-inch) hard drives with a USB port and no external power supply. I've attached three USB sticks that lying around at home with me, and all who work. A high reading and writing rate (or best equal to an external drive) is however advantageous to avoid block noise when recording, because some USB flash drives, the data (in HD recording, of course, larger amounts than in SD) is not fast enough able to process in order to ensure interference-free reproduction.
In the recording itself can fast forward and rewind it, as long as it does not concern HD + stations. In recordings of SD channels and ARD HD, ZDF HD and Arte HD (ie those who are sent in clear text) is the but problems.
While a recording is in progress, the program can, however, do not change, but it displays a warning message that a recording is in progress. This must be stopped before changing programs.
A recording of a radio program is incidentally also possible.

Unlike SD

No question, the quality of HD is, of course, a lot better than in SD. Especially on big screen televisions you realize significant improvements. The sports show in HD already makes more fun than before ...
For the HD + theme can be as you want and do not care whether one conceives the HD + model as a rip-off or dizziness due partly upscaled resolution (not a true HD), but I find that the image quality is significantly better than with my old SD Receivers and it kommts me to actually.

Other

With the receiver's remote can also control the basic functions of your TV (soft and loud, on, off, etc).
One thing that is puzzling me: if I turn off the TV, the receiver goes out with ... well it's virtually. (Update 12/12/12: could possibly be that the receiver and TV are connected via HDMI)
