Is less really more, I wonder at the fourth, fifth iteration of the latest Marillion Cd, which I was happy as ever since the 1994 disc Brave in advance vigorously, so I also have been a couple of weeks Maps for Basel concert have. Exciting, exciting I thought more in advance, especially when presented in marrillion.com sound bites and work impressions. For me, it is, however, only become an ordinary and banal unplugged album. None of that affects me negatively, as it has the album somewhere else managed for example with me where I just felt the theme song brilliantly, but also not one that just so blows me away with excitement from the stool (brave, afraid of sunlight, this Strange engine and even Anoraknophobia and marbles have easily managed). And I would less like more is found sooo really great, but even now it ripples like mainstream radio friendly emotionless good and warm and melodic in the background. Perhaps jumping in this voicing the sparks indeed the concert on, or maybe it has to be outside even darker and usseliger, maybe I need more heartache, more Weltschmerz to me with less is to feel more touched. However, that should also be noted in passing, has nothing emotionally stirred when acclaimed unplugged from Eric Clapton with me. And so I just look forward to the next work of Marillion, I still appreciate high despite musical mishaps. Finally, taste is different and that the artist as creator is always right with the work that his mood and his creativity entspring.
And so I give benevolent three Mittelmaßsterne for an album that will disappear with me into oblivion and will be there in good company with the 1998 double album Unplugged at the Walls (Racket Records on marillion.com ordered). The 98s album impresses with truly emotional atmosphere and live there less is actually a bit more more and could even get warm 4 stars.
