In "Scratch My Back" Peter Gabriel reduced solely on vocals, piano and orchestra. Guitars, drums, and synthesizers can not be heard on this record. Similar to the solo album by Mark Hollis (Talk Talk) does exactly this reduction to the essential fun listening. The Peter Gabriel and Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd) produced CD is sounded technically at the highest level - that arranged by John Metcalfe orchestra sounds fantastic and partly reminds the minimalist music by Philip Glass ("Koyaanisqatsi") or Steve Reich, the vocals of Peter are extremely sensitive and expressive singing, the piano sounds soft and harmonizes perfectly with the strings. It has therefore focused on what is essential, therefore, has nothing "inflated" and "foamed", which is a pleasant counter-movement to the current trend of music.
