Praised by the blogosphere I was very curious to read this novel. I know he must be wary of such a craze, but I still wanted to try.
If I liked politics - despite repeated warnings from the author warning that anyone can betray anyone - I got bored during my reading.
The beginning, the establishment - while necessary - have been a little too long for my taste. I have joined any character - especially not with childhood friend Mare.
Then the arrival at the palace, though yet full of tension and challenges, will not able to catch it.
Mare is not an enabling character and the background plot was a little too recessed to compensate.
The Queen though. His bitchy side is very compelling and fun. Politics, intrigue during a bloody and yet steely make a character in my heart. Naughty side / detestable we agree.
The Crown Prince had some potential to share his ambitions for the country and its compliance with laws and his father who could only bring personal heartbreak. But I think it would have been better able to narrate the story - or at least pieces of history.
While it will grow in importance thereafter, but I especially hope that the author will release the pseudo-love triangle that settles already m'insupporte.
In short, it is an idea relatively conventional base - as well as its course, but the characters have not been enough to convince me charismatic altogether.
