It is with delight that I started on this novel for a well mixed outcome.
The book is obviously not without qualities, the universe of buccaneering and the Caribbean is rather well made, the verbiage of Beauverger is rich, pleasant turns of phrases, in short it works, it is exotic and skillfully mixing SF Geography and History. The whole is pleasant except maybe cutting chapters Beauverger choosing to / in time a bit much, in short you get lost a little.
but then what's wrong?
Well I must admit, I was bored very quickly and I almost closed the book after reading the first chapters and because this is where the novel fishing at no time it takes off on one slips history at the discretion of the chapters of a novel that is sorely lacking in drama. It is surprising such as the main character seeks soon find the origin of the threat that it faces. Regrettably secondary characters enough dug and die without it happening any commotion. Finally, we would have liked more information on whole and important periods of history such as the whole preparation of the final attack, ignored ...
Result: a nice book, but often boring and far from the chief Starter expected that many awards gave hope.
