The songs are still outstanding, and Rodriguez's voice is as haunting and fascinating as on the first plate, but sounds that come with the ballads are used here because of the string arrangements, already some quite softened and smooth, which these songs are not always necessarily is conducive.
, Climb Up On My Music 'but is already one of the absolute highlights, because such folk here is connected with funk rhythms and a rock guitar solo, is really great. Also, A Most Disgusting Song 'white because Ropdriguez' chant and the wacky lyrics fully convincing. Heikki's Suburbia Bus Tour 'is the rock song of the plate in the style of the early 70's and Stones, To Whom It May Concern' compositionally one of Rodriguez 'best songs. Of the ballads is, It Started Out So Nice 'convincing and touching.
Overall still a very good disc, which was already too smoothed out in many places; but the fact the quality of the songs here little demolition. Despite only 4 stars a strong buy recommendation, since this Silberling probably will not be too long available and will be a rarity in the foreseeable future. The booklet and liner notes are very detailed and interesting and tell the story almost completely from this shoot, the lyrics are all printed, presentation first class.
After that was unfortunately final with new studio material (3 appended hereto bonus tracks from 72/73, again produced by Theo-Coff, were scheduled for a third LP, to which it but because of the economic difficulties of Sussex Records no longer to come). Even his rediscovery in the late 70 and the cult of arose around him in South Africa and Australia gave then only to a live LP from 1979, which is very very hard to find. Too bad, because the man had certainly had some great songs up his sleeve ....
