For our second TV I was looking for a good yet cheap DVD players. Here, HDMI output and video upscaling were "set" from the outset, the possibility to connect an external hard drive via USB desirable, but not required (with the motto: "nice to have"). After extensive research on the internet I soon became aware of the DVP 3360 Philips: Features and functions, design, an attractive price / performance ratio and by the numerous, mostly positive reviews gave me a coherent and convincing overall impression and eventually led me to buying this player here on Amazon. The delivery took place - as usual Amazon - super fast and in perfect condition! In the past 2 weeks that I now call my own 3360 the DVP, I had ample opportunity to check the unit on "paces" from a user's perspective. Here, my first, positive overall impression is confirmed with a few exceptions! When Philips DVP 3360 is a predominantly mature, highly reliable and largely user-friendly product, which I recommend to anyone who is looking for a DVD player with a clear conscience. In Detail: The ramp-up and open the disc tray from the standby is carried out with 10.5 seconds stopped relatively quickly and in a timely manner! The subsequent reading of the disc with an average measured 18 seconds (depending on the inserted DVD sometimes more, sometimes less), I now do not feel as a mega-slow! Certainly the DVP 3360 is one that's not necessarily the fastest of his craft! If this reading process also clearly be heard, so the players are, however, then no sound more of themselves: the drive does its work completely silent and allows the viewer to be able to enjoy quiet movie scenes "in peace"! One fan does not have the device by the way! The upscaling is performed confidently and flawlessly, so my DVDs are played in the unprecedented image quality. The other, "normal" functions such as fast forward / rewind, slow motion, still frame, etc. all work also flawless and reliable! Only the jump back to the previous chapter is a little more difficult and requires some practice but up here the desired result set. As the necessary two-time pressing the appropriate button on the remote control must be carried out exactly at the right time interval, otherwise you get only to the beginning of the currently playing chapter or at too frequent keystroke then back 2 or 3 chapters. This function would have surely can more user-friendly, especially to me by other DVD players this problem is not known in the extent described. Better me already like as the remaining time display, which gives an information about the remaining playing time of the inserted disc and only a few steps is also quickly and easily accessible! The menu I feel a total built up as a logical, understandable and clearly structured, so that the user will find their way quickly and without complicated studying the manual! The simply held, not overloaded with seldom needed to never function remote control responds in most cases very quickly and directly and has a large radius of action! In very rare cases, I can persuade my remote control only by multiple keypress to a corresponding response - why, no idea! Nice is also the option by remote control to open the disc tray or close - with me though inserting or removing that takes me the device then but not now and so I have to the usefulness of such a feature is not quite evident to because a shekel then eventually, willy-nilly make yourself on the way to the DVD player to do this! Beauty is relatively well known, but of elegance can be associated with this remote control does not speak for the life! I think a beauty contest she will probably never win - but that is also not to! About the "format miracle" DVP 3360 has been reported in various reviews and can be confirmed by me only here: the players really "eats" everything you offered him - and XviD files are accepted without objection and without a murmur from him! And also with homemade Double layers I have so far had no problems - all they were properly recognized and played error-free! Very handy, I find also the "memory effect" which remembers even after removal of the disc, where the movie was stopped and resumes the next time the disc at exactly this point (even after the player has since been completely disconnected from the power supply )! About the also existing feature to play back photos as a slide show or playing back MP3 files, I can not say anything, because not tested by me. All in all I am very satisfied with the DVD player! Give cause for criticism, only the above-mentioned shortcomings in jumping back to the previous chapter and the rare misfires of the remote control. Therefore 1 point deduction on an overall assessment of a total of 4 points then!
