A first test with the box gives me a correct picture quality (colors but a bit dull, I will see at the settings if I can improve).
The case seems to me very correct (to see if it lasts over the long term), but cons I put a few reservations about the accessories that come with the package and the software to use it.
In terms of accessories, there are several:
- USB cable - USB mini
- HDMI cable
- YUV cable to the AV connector
- PS3 AV cable to connector
- A jack-jack audio cable
- Carrying pouch
I appreciate the large number of accessories, but several things will not:
- The jack cable serves no (or almost nothing), since the housing jacks are used to connect a headset
- The carrying pouch is big enough for the casing; it seems to protect him, but I would have preferred a pocket to put the housing and cables (but this is not very important for me because I do not wander the account)
- The length of the HDMI cable is ridiculous (are pranksters at AverMedia?); I bother to measure it, it is 42cm, once connected, the box just touches the TV stand and he finds himself too far from my PC to connect the USB (although my TV and my PC is one beside the other); Fortunately I had left an HDMI cable 1.5m in reserve
- No complaints on the PS3 Cable> AV except that it measures 2m, bringing a big question, "Why put a console cable to 2m box if it is for the cable from the box to the TV makes 42cm ??? "; rarely installs its PS3 2m TV
- I also have some doubts about the usefulness of the YUV> AV cable, because it suggests that we could connect other sources YUV as a PS2 or Wii; I did the test with my PS2 (with the PS3 Cable> AV as it is the same connector) and once the PS2 configured correctly, the signal goes well to my TV via HDMI, but no image on the PC ( unless I made mistakes and that the use of the case with a PS2 or Wii is possible, I will check)
- The USB cable is when conventional him the correct length (about 1m), nothing to say
The software to when it is simple to use and can be set in a simple or advanced, but it has some shortcomings:
- First thing, even if it is not a fault of the app itself, I disapprove of the fact that no CD containing the software is provided in the box; I hate this habit of forcing us to download drivers / software what you buy (I already had the tour with three mice and a webcam); Imagine you buy this box to use a PC not having the net, or we just had a rotten rate (lost deep in the countryside, for example)
- The mute does not work properly, let me explain: it is possible, on the software interface, mute for not having double (TV + PC), but the sound is well recorded when I capture (so far, so good) but as soon as I cut the capture (or the resolution of the PS3 changes because games that do not have the 1080p) the audio icon always shows its cut but the sound is back, I have to "reactivate" the sound and the overlap for not having it on the PC, this is a bug
- The software also tends to screw up anything; when I connected the box with the original HDMI cable, I had the idea to put a USB extension cable to achieve the USB ports on my PC; despite the fact that my PC always recognized correctly the case, this simple extension made the software bugguer who claimed that another was using the soft case and then planted it to also planted when I wanted to try my PS2 after 10 seconds the message "No Signal"
- Moreover, history whatsoever very funny, the main process of the software (RECentral.exe) is not possible to shoot from the Task Manager, so all of the app crashing condemns me to a complete restart my PC because I can not not complete the process (I must also restart when I finish to write this review).
In short, this HD capture device seems good, that I must confirm the long term, the accessories are provided but many need to be reviewed (some unneeded and other undersized) and software has defects in code (bugs and instability) with whom I will have to play when I make my shots. I remain undecided for the time you recommend for or against you the product.
PS: Amazon yellow card if Amazon had bothered to copy the contents indicated on the box in the product description, it would have saved me buying a YUV cable for PS2 / PS3 that will not help me because the box contains everything you need. The description does not indicate the supplied cables and none of the sites I consulted before the purchase had mentioned the PS3 Cable> AV.
