I purchased the notebook for a friend (without BS) and have the separately purchased WIN 7 Prof. 64 bit installed.
Device: The notebook is - as already mentioned - no device of "more than 1,000 Euro Class" and it shows. The Lenovo is optically acceptable fitted very nice and for this price range. For the ultra-mobile use certainly not well suited, however, for work or living room or office properly.
The G50-70 is delivered without BS, ie, with Free-DOS. The version with Win 8 costs about 100 euros more. Win 7 Prof in the 64-bit variant is to have about 50 Euro and me personally much more sympathetic than Win. 8
Installation Windows: attempting to unpack, battery charger plugged in (battery is out of the box about 40% charged) and started. The DOS prompt is there in about 5 seconds. Then Windows DVD insert and restart.
Again DOS. Thus restart with entry into the BIOS (F1 or F2 when you restart). In the BIOS boot order on DVD-ROM changed. When you restart the message that booting from the DVD drive is locked due to security policies. Huh ?? Again changed the BIOS and settings. After the next restart, the message "You press a button when you want to boot from CD-ROM" to be confirmed.
CD starts. Hard drives for the installation are displayed. On the main drive (primary) Windows can not be installed. Huh? All partitions deleted, re-created and formatted. Now Windows can be installed.
The launch is thus a little bumpy but to accomplish even for laymen.
Back to Lenovo: The device is not only visually beautiful but also makes the performance thanks to the i7 CPU and 4GB of memory what forth. No stuttering, no dropouts. It must be said that the notebook has been exposed to excessive demand, but it was not bought.
The hard drive is generous 500GB, so plenty of space for BS, programs and photos as well as another.
The monitor makes a very nice picture and seems to be of good quality.
The performance (I think especially the CPU), however, forces the battery fairly quickly to its knees. After the battery has been fully charged, the charger has been disconnected and I think that the battery life will be about 2 to 2.5 hours.
Connectors: VGA ports for data and an external monitor, 3 x USB (1 x USB 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0). In addition, LAN (10/100/1000) and a SD card reader. For audio only a headphone output is installed, no input (!)
Conclusion: A solid piece of equipment that is both visually and technically presentable with minor compromises at a good price (EUR 450 in the flash range);
Just buy it at this price!
