The device is simply connected to the USB port of a computer and then provides a headphone jack, Line in, out, and a digital output. Microphone input, it has unfortunately not.
Some small weaknesses should be mentioned: the USB cable is firmly installed and can not be easily replaced, it is also relatively long so that it can come to the impenetrable cable-jumble. The device is very easy and thus go a good Companion apart from the slightly long cable. One point deduction for the cable. Device is highly recommended for recording from external sources. A phono equalizer is not integrated, so you would need for record players still an equalizer and phono stages.
