I am in the field of photography absolute novice, I had snapped until now only with the above camera. More gratifying is the intuitive operation and the scarce, but perfectly adequate and well-written (!!) instructions of the camera. So you can start right away and make virtually zero to good photos, though this of course increases practice (for me it is now after a month nearly 3000 images, while a children's birthday party, a kindergarten excursion and a wedding - come play ...) always getting better. I have not even used the scene modes and will not do it, because then I need no DSLR!
The operation of the 350D is very simple and clear, the controls are very well thought out and arranged (I disguised no settings with your nose so far, and I'm wearing glasses!), The menus are clearly laid out, and the monitor is enough for me completely out. If I want to see the images larger, I look it to me to your PC for a quick check arrived the 1.8 ".
Only the dimensions are a little tight, especially with telephoto lens you wish for a little "more" camera in hand. But that's what the battery grip (which also coming soon!), With which one has to double the battery power. Even though I'll never need it, because to me the battery from 550 to more than 900 (many of them with lightning! No joke !!) enough pictures. But the grip he's better, the little finger is simply no hold on Body.
The short-time and shutter lag, and continuous shooting of 3 frames / s are top and have saved me many a good motive! We have 2 small children and 2 dogs, there is always action and the speed of the 350D has made many times paid ...
And probably by many far too little appreciated b / w mode is really great. The pictures are amazing and you can make really great photos with it, especially if one uses the filters make sense. To all owners of the 350D: Use this mode again, the results are amazing!
Even the much maligned kit lens does not bother me in the least. Of course there are better lenses, these costs then also accordingly money! The pictures with the lens are very good, the AF is ok, what do you expect for 50 ?? Beginners reichts completely, the experienced the body gets with NEM better lens that then stop between 10 and 20 times as much cost as the Kit-part!
Otherwise, this camera has everything you need as an amateur with higher demands and what I do not need to elaborate. You just fun and invites to take pictures and to explore their options so that "Come play" is the right slogan for the 350D.
Luckily, you can no longer rely on analog film, firstly because the learning curve is simply bigger, if you can see the result directly and understand by the EXIF files also, and secondly, I would otherwise bust a long time ...
