Thus it gives one side in the impersonal lecture, and still very far from comprehensive or even just enough to get started, and with errors, for example on the longevity of the hen she halved ?? or the board to mark the eggs with felt then that is strongly discouraged because the ink through the shell ... The author broods on the means to poison or trap predators but does not explore the many existing protection (electrical barriers, netting landfill etc). It also places great emphasis on agricultural fairs and exhibitions to provide hens but does not say that the best subjects if you want the relatives of the man are choosing hens in small farms or in private homes, where they have been manipulated from an early age ...
Secondly, it has nevertheless sought to give a personal tone to his book including his introductions to chapters and in his last chapter, however, these passages do not enrich the reader useful information or even cocaces anecdotes. This is just to tell several times what his three favorite races without giving much information about them apart from their nice look and placid nature (incubators? Laying? Ability to live together in one of these races size henhouse measured or not? specific needs? for example, it does not provide the same equipment for bantams for plump orpington !! but no distinction is made ...). And finally the last chapter is useless: what interest for the reader to know that his 8 year old son prefers combative cocks? or such other prefers a small chicken as another race, again without giving useful information on the race, but just talk about this here?
Finally, this book is over the subject of the unique perspective of the author who has to experience his backyard 70 subjects ... so this book is absolutely not adapted to who simply want a small chicken coop few animals, and yet it is too vague for anyone who wants a great backyard. Who is he for ??
In short this book summarized in one word: disappointing!
Who like me considering the installation a small chicken coop with a few chickens for the pleasure of having eggs and observe these brave friendly beasts, I highly recommend another book of a similar price, "All for my hen: The pampering, treat her raise "by Elise Rousseau. An informative book written on a truly personal tone for once, by someone who also has humor what makes this book really fun to read! Twice the reading, and a thousand times more rewarding and useful!
