A great Vargas. Far from the annoying "Debout les morts" and its future series of the Evangelists (although they exist in germ in this book), it was daring this original story about plague background, mixing past and present, up to become a national issue (press and politics get involved) without never being grotesque. We also admire the erudition of the author. The staging of Madame Vargas is successful, following these various characters teeming Place Quinet as on a stage. Directing actors is convincing. Adamsberg was touching the sides of the Inspector Wallender (Mankell), the more chance, doing his intuitions fly every time. It's almost supernatural, as the plot is tortuous but well put together. We muddled through. Hat.
