Negatives:
-When The battery is empty, the camera suddenly stops with the message "Low Battery" on the display stand and simply do nothing. Enough power to the display to provide you with this message is apparently available, the objective is however not retracted! One can express nothing, only battery helped take out. Having reingesteckt him again, the objective is still retracted luckily - with his last strength sogesehen :-) (ADDENDUM: This issue is no longer occurred, was probably unique)
-I Have ordered extra fast 8GB SD card, yet I once had the event that the camera returned the following message on the display after pressing the "Play" button: "Please wait until the storage process has been completed". I could wait forever and nothing happened, you could press anything. Again battery out ... I hope that was once ... the pictures I had taken shortly before were gone! Very bad ...
-Automatic Turning Part 1: What is truly incomprehensible: The camera stores no image information for the automatic rotation of images. Say common image viewing programs can not read the orientation, ie whether the image has now been taken up horizontally or vertically. This means manual and müsiges no time on the PC at all edgewise images. Total annoying - we almost write the year 2012, how can that be? My 5 year old SLR, the and my three-year-old Canon Ixus also.
-Automatic Turning Part 2: The camera has no position sensor so that it automatically turns the camera held vertically about image rotation at the wrist and adapts to the screen size. This may be a luxury, but could also mean old Ixus.
-The Software for the panorama installed equal also a service in the system automatically starts ... what the, please? Generally, the software package is too cluttered and unnecessary, I would not even install.
-The Flash, as mentioned many times in a comical point. And you can not retract it manually.
Neutral:
-Battery Life is ok. I had over the holidays now want to photograph four days - on the third day was over. One must, of course, say that the lightning was in continuous use. So I guess there or on holiday the battery lasts definitely longer
Conclusion:
I'll keep the camera, because it is quite good overall. Also from photos I have inside and in poor light significantly less waste than the Ixus. Nevertheless, there are due to the negative points 2 star deduction, because you could still expect a little more. I've always been very happy with Canon and think that this trip will be rather been an exception in the world Niko.
Addendum:
I had the Cam now two weeks in Hong Kong and Thailand with us. What really makes me mad is that below the screen now are dust grains and not too few. Part one must look closely at one point in the photo, whether it is really in the picture (ie the lens), or only a speck of dust on the display. The build quality is really not as good everywhere are gaps and holes, as mentioned in other reviews.
The inscription "Coolpix 8200" is the top left of the flash even partly from, this is the Cam always in your pocket.
Addendum Number 2:
What I completely forgot, the pictures will be stretched to the edges. Say is a face in a corner or on the edge of the picture, it is slightly distorted, something I had with any other action. So actually you would have to deduct a star. Basically, the picture quality is indeed very good, but that spoils it again. Who wants to see sample photos, please just write in the comments - I'll send you NEN link to a few examples.
