Of course this album is much calmer and more emotional than its predecessor, yet no less beautiful. This album is characterized by hardness, but by catchy melodies The album begins with a bang. Stacked Actors is a tough rock song that can still miss any melody. Then with breakout followed by a totally cool, punky song. Especially Dave Grohl's outburst towards the end is very worth listening to. After that, the hit single Learn To Fly follows. This song could only convince me, however, after I heard the live version. Gimme Stitches is structurally a typical Foo song, who knows also to convince. Generator is one of the best pieces on the album. Especially Grohl's distorted voice that resonates with the guitars give this song something extraordinary. Aurora, however, is the quietest and verträumteste version on the album. Nevertheless, it is for me one of the highlights of the album. Live-In Skin, however, is simply just average, one of the songs that are mostly ignored, without attracting attention or disturb. Next Year is again a very nice piece. Especially the beginning convinced and freezes. The video also shows a deeper meaning, because to be inserted into a beautiful lunar mission images of the Vietnam War. Now Headwires follows. The highlight on this album. This song represents the perfect blend of hardness, melody and romance. The text is very well done (mentioned in passing Grohl his home). Is not It The Life is a weak point on the album. The song just seems too soft and cheesy. MIA has, as on every album of Foo Fighters, again a splendid farewell. The song is getting harder, without losing from the beginning to the chorus back to its sensitivity. In conclusion remains to say that it was perhaps unfortunate of the Fighters to create this album in two parts. Had the quiet and the hard songs mixed, it would be perfect. So it seems that the Foo Fighters out of steam towards the end. Nevertheless, this album is any Foo Fighters fan recommended. But even people who rely on catchy rock, should access here!
