The sound of the D5200 is from ISO 100 to up to ISO 3200 only very very slightly better than the D5100, from ISO 6400 then the D5100 was ahead. The D5200 has a higher image detail loss as the D5100 and its advantage in 24 MP could play the D5200 100 and good weather only at ISO.
The handling of the camera has been improved. The thumb rest is something "catchy". In addition, there is now an additional button (including single image / frame advance) on top of the case. Some menu items under the camera menu (functions) have been extended. Since the video function is rather unimportant for me, I have not tried this. The build quality is absolutely identical to the D5100 - so great! The focus areas and cross-type sensors are now as in the D7000 in the viewfinder, so there is no small "red dots" more. However, I could not convince really the new autofocus system. Despite the significantly more existing cross-type sensors / measuring fields, I found the results of the D5100 something convincing !!! Very positive I found the new round dial on the camera back (very good pressure point - taken over by the D7000).
Due to the extremely large image files 24MP arise. In the D5100 has a JPEG image file size of approximately 4.5MB and a RAW file size of approximately 14,7MB. In the D5200 a JPEG image has a file size of approximately 8,1MB and a RAW file size of 22,3MB. So (JPEG FINE + RAW) fit on a 32GB card in the D5100 945 images and 612 images in the D5200, 32 GB are therefore almost compulsory. Do not forget also that the data transmission due to the large amounts of data takes on a PC (despite the extremely fast 95MB / s) for very long. With regard to the continuous shooting speed I could not really notice a difference :(
The previous speaker wrote ..... is much much better than the D5100, this opinion I can not confirm that. Due to the 24 MP I had hoped for a clear image quality advantage, which unfortunately did not occur. The image quality of the D5200 is to ISO 3200 are identical and from 6400 even slightly worse than that of the D5100. I also realized that the tripping times were slower, despite the new image processor (Expeed3)! The well 300, - Euro additional costs (410, - Euro 720, - Euro) for housing are justified under any circumstances, so I forgive "only" 4.5 stars. As long as the price of the housing will be about 550 euros, I will certainly not change or have to wait rather on the successor to the D7000.
I have two pictures (Winterimpression / winter landscape) set.
18:01: The transmission via WLAN adapter works super easy and very fast, also NEF files are transferred in full size! I tested the transfer on iPhone5 and Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1 32GB!
14:03: And I gave myself and it was a right decision. The picture quality is, as already mentioned, very good, (I'll have a higher ISO value probably never use) analogous to D5100 to ISO 3200. In retrospect, I can say that the new autofocus system with 39 focus points and the 9 cross-type sensors is a significant improvement. VERY IMPORTANT: Be sure to buy a high quality, ultra-fast SD card, such as the Sandisk with 95MB / s. The D5200 actually supports this speed, unlike many other more expensive DSLR's !!! Compared to Sandisk with 45MB / s I could see a distinct difference - really. Purchase price in early March 629, - in photo shop. Greeting Thomas
26.04: Another quite important note regarding the 24MP. Due to the very high resolution you should consider that camera shake is very large necessarily. The "old" rule focal length x 2 clearly no longer enough! With a focal length of 105mm (eg 18-105er lens) is often enough despite Image Stabilizer no longer a shutter speed of 1/200. Since the 24 megapixel "together are" very close it is quite fast to a superposition of the pixel; times simply put! My recommendation, for example, at a focal length of 105mm (KB157mm) a shutter speed of 1/400 LEAST, better still 1/640 despite image stabilizer, then the images are certainly (also in the enlargement) rattenscharf) To this day I am still very very happy with the D5200. Greeting Thomas
10:06: The following lenses are used and are highly recommended:
Nikon 18-105mm VR,
Nikon 50mm 1.8,
Nikon 40mm Micro 2.8,
Nikon 55-300mm VR (already much better than the 55-200mm VR and only slightly more expensive).
For best results, but clearly brings the 40mm Micro and then the 50mm 1.8.
To date, there was no problem with the D5200.
Used UV Filters: Hoya HD - very good quality but a bit pricey.
