Behind the Sun (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Less than a year ago MOTORPSYCHO released their last album "Still Life With Eggplant". The sequel to "Behind The Sun" contains obvious shots from the same recording sessions with Reine Fiske as an additional guitarist. Put it the whole 14 songs together that would have a perfect double album as arising from the same mold. What a in "Still Life With Eggplant" - for an album - made rather torn impression fits with "Behind The Sun" now together wonderfully.

For newcomers: Stylistically, the Norwegians move between 70s space rock and stoner rock. The complex drumming of coming from the jazz area Kenneth Kapstad are the times rifflastigen, sometimes very melodic songs, however, a particularly powerful note.

(1) "Cloud Walker" and (2) "Ghost" make an unusually relaxed entry. While "Cloud Walker" still with summery groove that invites to open the top of the Convertible finally, follows with "Ghost" a deeply relaxed ballad that is closer to Sigur Ros ankuschelt than MOTORPSYCHO itself.

Who now already is worried about the band, no longer get in the following (3) "On A Plate" (4) "The Promise" and (5) "Kvaestor" the grin from his face - as long as you very well maintained Riffs is. "On A Plate" is the best stoner rock, "The Promise" takes the tempo even at times while "Kvaestor" as a pure instrumental from 4 minutes gives the opportunity for a high-revving solo percussionist.

(6) "Hell Pt. 4 - 6" sets "Hell Pt. 1 - 3" from the previous album continued and is found in (9) "Hell Pt 7." Graduated. Pt. 4 comes up with a beautiful melody to gepickter acoustic guitar in front of beautiful bass groove, before the song in Pt. 5 is likely to fall into unconsciousness, but from which he in Pt. 6 is awakened with hypnotic Dauerriff again. At Pt. 7 I'll be right there. (7) "Entropy" is another highlight, a nice mid-tempo ballad with the melodic guitar solo on this album before with (8) "The Magic & The Wonder" is once again rocked tidy.

(9) "Hell Pt. 7" is a beast. The final song reaches the reef from Pt. 2 (previous album), but exponentially so mad, as if ten electric guitars fight ten drums and grass instead of a bass accompaniment a buffalo herd through the living room. Since fly the chips that you can only be amazed, as if MOTORPSYCHO so increase their own style into absurdity that they take themselves so targeted. This is just as powerful as amusing.

So far, so great! "Behind The Sun" is better than "Still Life With Eggplant," Both albums together make sense but. All seven parts of "Light" You mix directly in succession and can next to the spacey "Ratcatcher" and the psychedelic "Kvaestor" very balanced and not unnecessarily escalating rocksongs between melody and a little bit rock madness enjoy. Both albums are absolutely in the collection, and also for newcomers is "Behind The Sun" absolutely suitable.
