Software & Performance: 4-5 Stars
Rarely have I seen such a such liquid running tablet. Just over 3 GB RAM make here clearly noticeable. The Xperia UI is me personally a bit too colorful, it's going on now of Google Now Launcher. In my opinion, something much Blotware installed. You can tell I prefer vanilla Android. But for users of PS Networks or other services Sony provides probably totally different. But in spite of all the tablet running insanely fast. I have not been able even to produce a stuttering or to bring to its limits the tablet even to begin. The software is very well adapted to the hardware. Well you have to honestly say that we are dealing with quite potent hardware.
Although the device is so thin, you can feel even when Antutu Benchmark extremely cool. I think Sony has here really a top package delivered! The performance is at the moment under Android 4.4.4 absolutely awesome! (At least that's my personal opinion)
Sony has already announced an update to Lollipop for Q1 2015 for the entire Z family. Since I am very excited about it.
A nice feature is the rest nor the Double Tap to Wake. This should find its way into my mind every Android device.
Display & Battery: 5 stars
The display has a resolution of Full HD, ie 1920x1080 pixels. While the PPI slightly worse than the Nexus 7 (2013) but still more than enough sharp. The viewing angles are absolutely stable. A fine feature is the adjustment of the display. You can adjust the white balance as you wish. Very good if you want to calibrate the screen prefer slightly warmer or cooler.
However, the biggest surprise for me is the battery. Absolutely gigantic. In my everyday use I get on good seven hours DOT and more than 3 days standby ...
For that I would honestly like to even awarded 6 stars. Burdened is the tablet in about 4 hours. Personally I lack the ability to charge the unit by Qi Wireless Charging. But that's what to use the magnetic side port or a Tabletdock the opportunity.
Speakers & Camera: 5 stars
The speakers are placed on the front. You can not get into the BOOM-sound speakers of HTC, but deliver from a very loud and surprisingly clear picture. It would be nice if the grades were fine. The last two stages are almost a bit too loud for my taste. However, a small point of criticism are the openings of the speakers. Here is definitely accumulate over time dirt.
The camera is told honestly not quite as important in a tablet. I'm basically no pictures with a tablet it there eventually either good cameras or if necessary even the smartphone snapping. Therefore, this point is not to evaluate for me.
Network / LTE: Very good / LTE will be submitted
On the web of o2 I can tell nothing negative. The UMTS reception is very good also in buildings. LTE is capable of this SIM is not, however, this point will be later submitted as soon as my T-Mobile LTE card comes. Phone conversations I have with the device but also its Let's be honest, to make calls with an 8 inch model's already a slight angle. And without a headset is the whole not really private. But it works.
Verdict: I do not regret the move!
What can I make known to date as final judgment !? I do not regret the switch from the Nexus 7! The device is a performace-beast. In addition the processing of his peers (here HTC / Google times at the moment a page from their book should be) examined and then we are also dealing with an insane thin device! Honestly for me, the Android Tablet 2014. Well the price is already an announcement, but quality has its price now times.
And yes Waterproof is the device. ;) This is what I've been tested several times out of interest! I hope I can even make a beautiful underwater video next year!
From me this is a strong buy recommendation! (I would prefer 6 star award!)
