Deus Ex: Human Revolution - unfortunately only average

I am last week in possession of "Deus Ex: Human Revolution" came formally to be noted that where I observed on the UK version, but this (to my knowledge) is no different except for speech output of the German version. Furthermore, I am unfortunately not had the pleasure to play the first part of the series.

The story of Deus Ex starts quite promising.

It is the year 2027. Detroit. The Enticklungen nanotechnology and neurobiology have made progress. Adam Jensen, in his head of security, which specializes in augmentations "Sarif Industries" will witness an attack on the laboratories and the headquarters of his employer David Sarif.
During the mysterious attack that requires numerous lives, Jensen Wurd critically injured - it requires so-called "augmentations" (changes in the biological properties of the human body) to Jensen to save the life.
This is now in search of the backers of the attack, who has finally called for the life of his mistress.

This is the rough outline of the story, more details I do not want to divulge.
The game is now so concerned with the backgrounds and effects said attack. Jensen will of course discover the truth and encounters numerous other characters who have more or less directly or indirectly related to augmentations, corruption and Sarif Industries.

So here arises the first RPG-structure side and Main Quests. At first glance, it sounds so very promising, but ultimately they are not worth mentioning, are limited to "from A to B" go, the collection / killing of objects / people and the journey back to the Quest Steller. The sounds then, due to the arduous marches, confusing environments and very parlous state rewards more interesting than it is. By fulfilling these quests and some other actions such as hacking etc. receives Jensen experience points that eventually called to level-rise and Erlangen. "Practice Points" lead.
This is also the next big RPG aspect of Deus Ex. With this "practical Points" can be his augmentations then improve or enlarge the repertoire. Problem: This is usually in the form of sporadic more than adequate and hardly worth mentioning. So hacking the only function at higher levels are actually useful seems other gimmicks are unnecessary and change nothing on the game experience.

It is sufficient in most cases completely to "duck" with the (at the beginning very getting used to and overloaded) control of the individual areas to (it is usually the game experience at waist level to master the Schleich deposits) to eliminate the enemy and grope so. The augmentations do not constitute alternative solutions or develop the game flow.

Although the graphics are quite nice to look at, and the music is done, but especially the former is not quite at the level of time - unfortunately. So you move through similar-looking areas that pedestrians in Detroit do not have individual personalities, only the quest giver and Handlunsgfiguren own first and last name. The level structure is tube-like, you will find yourself again in the same place, an endless traveling between A, B and C. A quick trip function or alternative means of transport does not exist.

The game will remain so (probably justified due to the subject matter) very sterile and superficial - and what is much more tragic - extremely repetitive.

The dialogue system is not available as one-sided and superficial, the correct answers are usually blind to guess and to differentiate between good / evil as in Mass Effect, inFamous, KOTOR and so there is not.

Now, in the sum of these aspects will then finally a game that, although quite interesting comes along, but after 5 to 10 hours has been massive wear and tear. The interaction with the environment is more than superficial (there may a few boxes, refrigerators, garbage cans etc. are moved, but this do to contain no added value as items, credits, etc.) and is fast exhausting rather than fun. The story is to be admittedly far from bad, but again, more air would be much been upward.

Deus Ex is understood as a symbiosis of roles and action game and touted as such, but in my opinion this has not worked. But both aspects are staged too superficial and lack depth. Who wants a game similar style, should look at "Alpha Protocol". Who is setting, atmosphere and quest structure interesting, is better off with the Mass Effect series a lot and who want to experience the exploration or the RPG experience that is with Fallout 3 / New Vegas have been thrilled.

For me, Deus Ex has no significant strengths or may set certain aspects exceptionally in scene. What remains is an average action game whose idea, story and setting maybe can inspire, as addicting game but unfortunately not working.
