The lens is in spite of its focal length compared to other lenses in its class amazingly compact, so no obstacle, it constantly perform with. High quality, it also acts.
After turning on my G2 I thought I can not believe my ears. This lens is the loudest I've ever received from Panasonic in the fingers. If the lens does not move, a clear fundamental sound can be heard, which is almost entirely disappears when you turn the OIS. Moreover when pivoting a low frequency hum, which is probably due to the autofocus. The drone is considerably louder than that of the H-FS045200, louder than the standard H-FS014042 anyway.
But how this manifests itself in practice? The sound is anyway only the films of concern. Probably you seldom the embarrassment of having to film with superzoom and still to want to record the original sound.
At close range, the lens is rarely used. Here one is certainly much better served with the H-VS014140, especially the 100-300 a minimum distance of 1.5m requires the 14-140 but only 0.5m.
Speaking distance: This lens is therefore unsuitable for macro photography.
Shooting with the flash: When grown standard flash of G2 and 100mm focal length, without lens hood, I could see no shadows of the lens in the photo. This is not self-evident!
The quality of the photos is, as far as I can tell, very well. The use of a tripod is recommended at slow shutter speeds despite stabilizer.
In the field of photography, it is therefore an ideal supplement to 14-140er lens. The 45-200er can now be sent safely in retirement.
Maybe yes Panasonic soon enough after a firmware update that minimizes the scope subjectively annoying noise?
