The Sigma 30mm: rock solid
For the fixed focal length lenses for me only two were considered: Sigma 30mm 2.8 and even Sony. The Sigma cost ten months ago EUR 100 Sony 450, what I felt as a measured impact and therefore resorted to Sigma. This is, moreover, worthy of all honor and produces especially sharp crack from decent lighting conditions, natural images that are also presented with my D90 Set in the shadows. Over time, however, I found the limit of a 2.8 aperture as too restrictive, as the camera came with no flash in dimly lit rooms, for example, to their limits. Flash photos I find cruel with small Aufteckblitzen, possibly to flash with hard or backlight acceptable. So I decided after prolonged rag to change.
The Sony: outstanding
The lens is performed again valent compared to Sigma, with full metal body and excellent craftsmanship. This is of course positive, but is reflected in slightly higher weight down. The length is a few millimeters larger, whereby the entrainment in the pocket is difficult. Since compactness and low weight are the (only) two advantages over a DSLR, you should consider this thoroughly.
Now the most important thing, the quality of the images. All I can say for my model - excellent. Above all, and because of the additional cost Sigma has paid immediately, by a) the large aperture of 1.8 in conjunction with b) the very good optical image stabilization. Still life be imaged sharp from the hand with 1/20 second shutter time. Along with the large aperture are available-light shooting possible even in very dimly lit rooms. The distance to the Sigma is huge in this respect. The exemption of objects is great, with beautiful bokeh as well as the autofocus, the biggest weakness of NEX5 seems to me faster than the Sigma. Total: Top-lens!
The price premium I still find steep, although the Sigma now costs 200 EUR and Sony 400. When I consider that a Nikkor 50mm 1.8 for Nikon DSLR will cost 105 EUR, which is already fierce. So Sony has also miscalculated something that just seven reviews at Amazon speak for meager sales. Fair would I think 300-350 EUR, but ok.
The bottom line is an excellent lens, the NEX 5N my has made a huge leap. The hefty price has mE paid off, but it costs the fifth star.
